Fr. Kyrillos Sadek Biography
Adel Sadek was born on June 2, 1969 in Alexandria, Egypt. He is the son of Dr. Wadid Sadek and Mrs. Naglaa Sadek and he has an older sister Dr. Randa Antonius. In 2000, Dr. Adel and Marianne were married at St. Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church in Seattle, WA. In 2006, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter Maria Raphaella.
Dr. Adel Sadek has many academic achievements including a Master’s Degree from University of Alexandria in 1993 as well as a Master’s of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia 1995. In 1998, Adel completed his PHD in Civil Engineering (Transportation) from the University of Virginia.
Adel accepted a position at the University of Vermont in the Civil Engineering Department as a professor from 1998-2008. He was also Director of the Civil Engineering Transportation Program. Adel then moved to Buffalo in 2008 to take a position as a Professor at the University at Buffalo Civil Engineering Department and Director of The Civil Engineering Transportation Center. Adel received several awards and published numerous papers and textbooks.
Adel served in many churches including St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church (Fleming) Alexandria, Egypt, St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church Washington, D.C., St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church Boston, MA, St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church Montreal, Canada, St. Mary and Archangel Raphael Coptic Community South Burlington, Vermont and St. Mary and St. Moses Coptic Orthodox Church Buffalo, NY.
On May 4, 2014, Adel was ordained Arch-Deacon Yostos by his Grace Bishop David at St. Mary & St. Moses Coptic Orthodox Church Buffalo, NY.
On May 11, 2014 Deacon Yostos received the sacrament of priesthood and was ordained Father Kyrillos by His Grace Bishop David to serve St. Mary & St. Mina’s Coptic Orthodox Church Syracuse, NY.
